Bias cut snazzyness

Down to the last few days of this challenge. And what better way to spend those days, than trying to push myself! To help finish off my outfit I decided to sew a pair of linen hose (stockings). I came across an amazing pair of extant ones, with wonderful construction details on construction and decorations in a book put out by the Victoria an…

3.25 Finale

No pictures today; my old laptop with the memory card reader has given up the ghost. I'll resurrect it later. Monday, 3/22:    Finished repairing the white pants. Hopefully I don’t bust through them again although I’ve been slacking on leg day lately so it’s unlikely.    Also finished the hemline on the…

25 March 2021 – Is that a light at the end of the tunnel ……..

Or is that an oncoming train?? :) I did not do so well with posting twice a week - however, I do believe I will have the outfit completed tomorrow, or rather later today. And that is because it is the last day my friend is able to meet me, drive me to a stone built church in town that has the look of old English churches which I think wi…

Wednesday 03/24 Post: Cutting It Close, Indeed

E. Lots of Pinning, Lots of Hand-Sewing If I were unemployed, as I had been for much of last 12 months, I would probably be finished by tomorrow or Friday, but I began a new job very recently, and so had to budget my time accordingly. It was only very recently that I felt able enough at the job to hand-sew between phone calls and during my brea…

Sleeve

I wanted to share my thoughts behind the sleeve. This was the starting blank for my sleeve. I knew it was too long, but couldn't get a good picture of it actually on my arm. Working alone has it's disadvantages! However, I took some marks and made these cuts. Chopped! The small cut on the bottom of the picture is the cuff. I had no f…

Cap Change

When I first started this project I used this picture as inspiration for a headpiece, because I believed that under this women's hair was some kind of cap. However upon looking more closely I now believe that there is in fact no cap, and the decoration on her head is some kind of circlet. I am still not 100% sure but I decided to change my course …

Golden (C-S-R) Sewers – lots of little stuff coming

There will probably be a lot of short posts as things get critical so I don't forget anything. The test knot. The knot I may try stitching up the end to make it look rounder and not so long. We'll see how the time goes. …

Golden (C-S-R) Sewers – Judges? any questions?

To our judges - please ask questions if you have them. These posts are pretty much all the documentation I am planning to submit so if you want to know more about anything we are doing or how we sourced it, please ask now. Thank you. …

Part Two! Finished Skirt

So the main skirt is finished, and I'm going to say that I'm pretty darn happy with how it's come out. There was some seam ripping, a snot-ton of stitching, but it's been worth it. Some very nice pleating Some very nice pleating on the other side I did this gorgeous pleating on both side panels, it was so nice and even. Absolutely lovely…
