I reached a goal! The serk/undress is finished. I based it off the following sketch, from this website: http://urd.priv.no/viking/serk.html. I made mine ankle length, and incorporated the gores into the pieces to give myself fewer seams to sew while still sticking with rectangular construction. My partner kindly held up the ungathered serk so I could get a photo of it before I ran the gathering stitches. Next is cutting the gores for the sarafan/overdress, and then I’ll start assembling that as well.

I’m keen to see all this put together. It’s not a region with which I have tons of knowledge but hope to learn more about.
