We will be recreating the “May” illustration from the Master of Claude de France, dated 1517 – 20. I was just enchanted by the hat. The dress is not ‘fashionable’ for 1517, as sleeves had ballooned much larger, but as I am an old lady dressing up as “May”, surely copying from an artist apparently nostalgic for the dresses of his ‘springtime’ is appropriate.
Active sewers will be Gwynnyd doing the dress & Aimée making the hat. Mistress Fiona and Lady Roslyn will be proving consulting, advice, and cheerleading.
The outfit is rather … er… underpowered for a month long competition, but it was conceived and planned as part of an in-person, 18 hour Golden Seamstress contest last year, that unfortunately I ended up not being able to compete in. I still just want to do it, so here I am.
