Well, that’s been one hell of a month. I have sworn in at least 3 languages, I have stuck myself repeatedly with pins, I have run out of materials, but I am happy with what I have accomplished.
Despite the setbacks and issues I ran into, this has been great fun. I really wanted to challenge myself with this, and feel I achieved what I wanted to. All of my garments are completely sewn by hand, I got to use materials I dyed myself, I learned a few new stitches, and most fun of all I got to perpetuate sharp force trauma to fabric with pinking irons. There are defiantly a few things I would do differently, and I may well alter some things down the line, but for now I have a fully functional outfit done in a month.
So, huzzah for the organizers of the competition, and huzzah for all my fellow participants!
That is stunning! Thank-you for participating in this, I have really enjoyed watching you put this together, and your posts were a lot of fun to read.
Wow! That looks amazing, and it’s been great reading about this as I was able to read along. Especially about your shoe construction. And thank you- I now have a new research book to add to my library!
I shall say you look DE-VINE and go back to detailed praise on the judging sheet.
I look forward to meeting in person and looking over your clothing. It has been long since I stopped 16th menswear, and you make me miss it.
Thank you! It has been a privilege to watch this project happen.
I suspect if I sat down with you over a beer I would come to question my decision to leave the 16th century (in everything except embroidery) for the 14th century. You make this area of costuming so attractive as project and research hobby.
