Not much done this week

So I found out that the picture I was using as my inspiration piece is OOP by about 12 years which makes the hat I fell in love with OOP. After loosing the will to live for two days I put my big girl bloomers on and shook myself off. By the same token I also found out that COLORED GOMLEKS(equivilent of a chemise) are a thing!!! Colors besides white show up before 1600’s. By and after the 17th century they are almost exclusively white. I reconsidered my choices and decided that the material I WAS going to use for my pants I will now do for my gomlek…the material is not period (it’s bubble gauze which is wonderful for the heat of summertime New England). However, it is an awesome acidy green color that goes fantastic with the orange-red of the Caftan. So I’ve laid out the fabric and got the made body of the gomlek cut and the sleeves. I just have to do the gores. It is not much but I’m taking it as a win.

Love your discovery! I will have to think of that the next time I go to make a white chemise. Good luck with everything 🙂

I’m so glad you’re making good progress! As one of your judges, I’m really curious about your fabric colors and patterns! Any chance you can post a couple of pics? Thanks!

Setbacks are so hard! Good for you for being able to move past this one, and finding something else that interests and inspires you to work on as part of the project!

I would also (as another of your judges) be interested in seeing the materials you’re working with, and your general plans for what fabrics you’ll be using for which garments (subject, of course, to further inspiration changes!).
